The March lion may be fierce, but never so much that we cease to look forward to spring. In fact, he may make us look forward to it even more! Spring is a sure thing and as we begin to come out of winter hibernation, we welcome activities and events that will celebrate the season. We’ve put together our top ten favorite ways to welcome spring in Ridgefield below – enjoy!
Many of Ridgefield’s restaurants offer outdoor dining and it’s never too early to pull up a chair outside. Head downtown to TerraSole, 850° Wood Fired Pizza, Tequila Escape, Tazza Café, or Tablao; take a jaunt over to the east side of town and enjoy the outdoor patio at Milestone or Wooster Hollow. There are so many delicious options it’s a great time to start enjoying a meal or cup of coffee outside again.
Nothing says spring like the first round of golf, the fresh scent of earth on a hike along our beautiful network of trails, or fresh water fishing at Seth Low Pierrepont and Bennett’s Pond. You can also make the most of a sunny afternoon with a picnic at Ballard Park or Weir Farm National Historic Site!
We’re lucky to have a range of clubs supporting outdoor activities, and if you enjoy blood-pumping cardio with friends, join the crews at the Ridgefield Bicycle Club or Ridgefield Running Club! If you’d like to share your pride in Ridgefield’s splendor, consider joining the Ridgefield Garden Club and be a part of the team that helps keep town beautiful.
And speaking of the garden club, now’s the time to prepare our outdoor living areas! Plant seeds for herbs, vegetables and flowers, and get your patio or outdoor space ready. Stop into Ridgefield Hardware Co. to pick up various supplies such as tools, soil, seeds, candles, and more. And you can find everything you need for your deck and outdoor projects at Ridgefield Supply Company.
Spring sessions are about to begin! The Ridgefield Guild of Artists and RPAC Art Center offer art classes, and the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance boasts a fabulous dance program. And don’t forget to check out the library for a variety of programming for all ages!
The arts scene in Ridgefield is enviable, and with so many new and ever-evolving programs, you’ll need to plan a few date nights! The Ridgefield Playhouse offers a robust calendar of various events from music to theater; catch ACT Theater’s Rock of Ages while it’s showing, or check out the Theater Barn for some fabulous entertainment.
With so much history all over town, taking a drive through the historic districts is a wonderful way to admire spring in bloom. Plan your drive and pass by several historic sites including the Keeler Tavern & Museum, The Scott House, and Peter Parley Schoolhouse; make it an outing and explore these town relics in-depth during their visiting hours.
Enjoy some live music and food trucks, or Trivia Night plus a local brew at Nod Hill Brewery. You’re sure to share a fun night with friends or a double-date filled with laughs!
