February Highlights in Ridgefield

It may be cold outside, but Ridgefield is really heating up with many terrific events around town. February is going to be a busy month, with many exciting performances, exhibits, celebrations, and other special activities on the calendar. Take a look at these great events:

“Old Ringers”
Ridgefield Theater Barn
February 1st-February 23rd
The Ridgefield Theater Barn is excited to present the uproarious comedy, “Old Ringers.” Directed by Carol Dorn, this charming and hilarious play tells the tale of older folks embarking on a new and scandalous business. Seating at the Theater Barn is cabaret style and audience members are encourage to bring their own food and drinks to enjoy before the show.

2019 Members Show-Conversations
Ridgefield Guild of Artists
February 2nd- February 17th
The Ridgefield Guild of Artists’ annual Members Show will feature art that sparks a conversation. Different techniques, materials, and styles will be on display that not only convey ideas that matter deeply to the artists, but also portray ideas that will ignite curiosity in the viewer. All artwork in the exhibit will be available for purchase.

Nature’s Temptations Cooking Demonstration
Ridgefield Library
February 7th 
Join Chef Liz of Nature’s Temptations for a delicious cooking demonstration! Chef Liz will show you how to prepare her favorite gourmet dishes while you sip wine and enjoy the recipes she creates right in front of you. Be sure to come hungry as you will be eating all night long!

2nd Annual Parent & Children Valentine Tea Party
Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance
February 10th 
Join the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance for their 2nd Annual Valentine Tea Party! The whole family is invited to take part in this afternoon of delicious tea and music. All proceeds from the event will go to Dancers Responding to AIDS.

Revisiting the Founding Era: The Founding and Its Importance Today
Ridgefield Library
February 10th
Author, constitutional scholar, and Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, Akhil Amar will be giving a lecture as a part of the Ridgefield Library’s Revisiting the Founding Era Series. Mr. Amar will discuss the dynamic nature of the 1787 constitutional convention, provide short profiles of its key players and relationships, and outline the issues that dominated their arguments.

Kool & The Gang-Valentine’s Day Celebration

February 14th 
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Kool & The Gang! Take your special someone out for an evening of classic funk and jazz music. “Working”
ACT of CT
February 14th- March 10th 
“Working” is the extraordinary musical from Grammy and Academy Award Winner Stephen Schwartz. Based on Studs Terkel’s best selling-book, the musical tells stories about the typical American workday from the perspective of those that the world so often overlooks. This performance at ACT of CT will be a world-premiere version of “Working” and will feature new music by Lin-Manuel Miranda with additional contributions by Daniel C. Levine.

Family Night at The Aldrich
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
February 15th
Bring the whole family out for a night of fun and merriment! After a screening of the movie Monsters, Inc., children and their parents will be lead on a flashlight tour around the Museum.

2019 RIFF Oscar Screening Gala

February 24th
Join the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival for their annual Oscar viewing party. While you enjoy some champagne and other treats, take a few photos on the red carpet and watch as Hollywood gives out its biggest awards of the season.

Events at The Aldrich
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

The Aldrich will be bustling with special activities and wonderful exhibits throughout February. In addition to kid-friendly workshops and artist discussions, the museum will be hosting a Family Night and a Drink & Draw for adults.

The Playhouse has a great line-up of entertainment for the month of February. Renowned musicians, singers, dancers, and comedians will all be taking center stage. Some highlights include the Masters of Illusion, Kool & The Gang, and Terrapin: The Ultimate Grateful Dead Experience.
