A Summer Stroll Down Main Street in Ridgefield

August is the last full month of summer, so we should make the most of these sunny summer afternoons. As we all look for ways to soak up every bit of sunshine, consider a stroll through Main Street in Ridgefield for your next adventure. 

Main Street in Ridgefield has it all… impeccable restaurants, boutique shopping, art galleries featuring local talent, people watching while enjoying outdoor coffee and dining, and an abundance of beautiful architecture and history. It is no surprise that it has been voted as one of the best Main Streets in America!

As you walk by the coffee shops and boutiques, you will notice how much detail and personal touch went into creating every window display. It is our town’s small business owners that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all, and they are what give Main Street its undeniable charm.

This year, local businesses have also teamed up with the town to host the first ever Ridgefield Summer Sidewalk Stroll, where shops all around town are extending shopping to the sidewalks so you can shop while strolling through beautiful Main Street. The Stroll extends to the charming Marketplace at Copps Hill as well, where you can explore and browse while grabbing a bite to eat.

While on Main Street, we recommend you stop in to tour The Aldrich Contemporary Museum to see its most recent exhibits and come to the Ridgefield Pride Art Center to view what’s on display at the gallery.

While you’re on Main Street, take a stroll by the iconic Lounsbury House and visit the Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center for a self-guided tour of the historic grounds. And to learn a little more about Ridgefield’s rich 300-year-old history be sure to stop by each of the the Museum in the Streets information points!

Also on Main Street is where you can find The Elms. The family-owned, Ridgefield based Elms Development Co. is the visionary firm behind the award-winning and historically sensitive redevelopment of this important Main Street property. The Elms is a great place to live right in the heart of town enjoy all that Downtown Ridgefield has to offer, including outdoor dining at many of Ridgefield’s restaurants. Tequila Escape is a great place to pretend that you are on vacation and watch the world go by.

For a relaxing afternoon, Ballard Park is a great spot to enjoy a small picnic or catch one of Ridgefield’s CHIRP Concerts during the summer months. And before you leave, stop by Deborah Ann’s Sweet Shoppe for an ice cream sundae – you won’t regret it!
