The Mission

The Ridgebury Riders is a 501c3 non profit organization located at the bucolic Ridgebury Farm and Stables. Their mission is to increase the health and well-being of people with intellectual, social, or physical challenges, and to build a supportive and optimistic environment for their riders, their families and friends, and community. The mission is motivated by the personal experiences of the founding members after seeing the unique and exponential benefits Hippotherapy provides.

The Hippotherapy

The term Hippotherapy comes from the Greek word for horse, “hippos”, and the word therapy. It is defined as the use of horseback riding as a therapeutic or rehabilitative treatment, especially as a means of improving coordination, balance, and strength.

As a proud member of the American Hippotherapy Association, Ridgebury Farm and Stables offers various Hippotherapy sessions, including Occupational, Physical, Speech, Psychotherapy, and Equine Assisted Therapy.

The Riders

All riders are included, regardless of age, experience, neurodiversity, or riding ability. Being a Ridgebury Rider means that you have the opportunity to develop at your own pace while working with instructors, therapists, and amazing animals.

The Property

Ridgebury Farm and Stables is a breathtaking property along peaceful Ridgebury Road in Ridgefield. A lush 56 acres, with private trails tucked away and picturesque pastures, it is the perfect environment for healing and growing.
