Please join us for a film screening of Hernmarck Tapestries at Hudson Yards followed by a post-film talk with artist Helena Hernmarck and The Aldrich’s Executive Director Cybele Maylone.
This 20-minute film presents tapestry artist Helena Hernmarck’s latest major commission: two sets of monumental tapestries for a residential lobby at 35 Hudson Yards in New York City. It showcases Helena’s ongoing collaboration with weavers and spinners in Sweden, as well as the complex design and installation requirements for this unique commission. Above all, it highlights the ongoing relevance of tapestry as an artform in contemporary architectural settings.
The screening will take place in The Studio at The Aldrich; Q&A will follow the post-film talk.
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum presented Helena Hernmarck: Weaving in Progress from October 14, 2018 to January 27, 2019. This exhibition was organized by The Aldrich’s former Exhibition Director Richard Klein.
