Event Details
Join us for an engaging evening of music featuring Grammy-winning double bassist Ranaan Meyer and the Charles Ives Music Festival Chamber Orchestra. The concert is programmed by Artistic Director, Paul Frucht, and conducted by Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra Music Director, Eric Mahl. The program includes works by Valerie Coleman, Kevin Puts, Kris McCormick & Paul Frucht, with a special performance of Ranaan Meyer’s “Concerto for My Family.”
In addition to works by Valerie Coleman and CIMF participating composer Christian Yom, CIMF Artist-Faculty will perform works by Kevin Puts and Kris McCormick, who grew up in Ridgefield and tragically passed away at a young age in 2020. McCormick studied with Puts at the Peabody Institute and CIMF pairs their works together in honor of McCormick and his music. The program also features the CIMF Chamber Orchestra, led by Conductor Eric Mahl, giving the world premiere of the flute and string orchestra version of Paul Frucht’s There Are Stars, featuring flute artist-faculty Katie Althen and the program closes with CIMF Artist-in-Residence and Grammy-winning Ranaan Meyer’s A Concerto For My Family, featuring Meyer – a Grammy-winning, Emmy-winning double bassist and founding member of Time For Three – as a soloist.
The Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra is a proud host of the Charles Ives Music Festival. For more information, please visit wctyo.org. For a full list of upcoming CIMF events, visit charlesivesmusicfestival.org/summer-concerts
