Artists' Reception for "Making Monotypes: The Painterly Print" Exhibit

Join us at the Ridgefield Library on Saturday, April 6th between 2:00-4:00 PM as we host an artists’ reception for our new art exhibit, Making Monotypes: The Painterly Print.  This exhibit is a group show of monotype printmakers and will be on view in the Library Art Gallery from April 2- 29, 2024.

In this exhibition you will see a variety of both reductive and additive methods used by artists Scott Bricher, Barbara Went Cover, Joan Macfarlane, Roberta Shea, Mary Terrizzi, and Nancy Zarider.  All the artists are from the studio of the Washington Arts Association, under the direction of Master Printmaker Anthony Kirk.

What is a monotype print and how are they made?  Monotype prints are usually original and unique, with an edition of one or two impressions. The artist uses a hard, non-absorbent surface and applies a wide range of media. Paper is placed on top of the plate and pressure is applied by hand or by using the press to transfer a painterly image.
