Event Details
This latest exhibit “Octopus Portraits: Sessions Under Patmos” by Jeff Eyrich will be on display at the Ridgefield Library from February 3 – 29, 2024.
Jeff Eyrich, who lives in Tuckahoe, NY, has been traveling to the Greek island of Patmos every year for the past 40 years. “I spend most of my days on Patmos out in my small boat. I like to find a good spot to free dive and photograph the world I find under Patmos. My tools are my fins, my mask and snorkel, and my waterproof camera.”
“One of the inhabitants of this world under Patmos is the octopus. Over the years in my interactions with these creatures, I’ve learned to appreciate how incredibly intelligent, perceptive and curious they are. My interactions with octopuses are by far the most interesting, emotionally rewarding and unforgettable experiences I’ve ever had.” The pictures you will see in the exhibition are from these interactions: the octopus in his natural environment under Patmos.
