Event Details

Live-stream of the 2nd Annual Witness Stones Installation Ceremony

The 2nd annual Witness Stones Installation Ceremony will take place at 9:30am on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Because space is very limited this event is by invitation only, but it will be live-streamed to the community through the RPS Curriculum YouTube Channel  and recorded for future viewing. This partnership with the Ridgefield Public Schools, Ridgefield Historical Society, and the Witness Stones projects brings history alive through inquiry for each 8th-grade student in Ridgefield. Students are studying the history of slavery through a regional and local lens while practicing the skills of a historian. Last year, students studied the lives of Quash and Lidia, two formerly enslaved persons in Ridgefield. This year, students are investigating the lives of Dinah and Peter. All four of these enslaved residents of Ridgefield lived in the Ridgefield Historical Society’s Scott House during the 18th century.
