CHIRP concerts signify the unofficial start of summer and are a beloved Ridgefield tradition. Don’t miss this year’s amazing line-up of local talent and enjoy free concerts every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00pm in Ballard Park throughout the summer. Here’s why we ❤️ CHIRP!
1. CHIRP means summer is here!
CHIRP concerts signify the unofficial start of summer and anticipation is high when opening day arrives. This year’s season kicked off with a special performance by the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra! Tune in and enjoy CHIRP concerts on warm summer nights every Tuesday and Thursday evening through August 2024.
2. CHIRP is a true Ridgefield tradition
Like Ridgefield’s Holiday Stroll and the Memorial Day Parade, CHIRP concerts are a beloved Ridgefield tradition. Outstanding music enjoyed with friends and family in the great outdoors makes CHIRP a favorite for Ridgefielders and visitors from other towns as well.
3. Concerts are free
All CHIRP concerts are free – thanks to the generosity of sponsors and folks who donate to support CHIRP. Donations are appreciated to support this wonderful organization and to fund these top-quality concerts that bring music to everyone. Learn more
4. Enjoy top acts from far and wide
The concerts feature top acts who travel to Ridgefield to be part of this popular concert series. Coming up this June are performances by rock & roll lifer James Maddock on June 11th, Way Down Wanderers on June 20th, Jamie McLean Band on June 25th, and other amazing talent! 5. You can bring the whole family
We love the casual family-friendly atmosphere at the concerts. The little ones can get up and dance and learn to enjoy music from an early age.
6. Picnics are encouraged
Who doesn’t love a laidback picnic with great music to boot! A meal alfresco enjoying quality music is our idea of an idyllic summer pastime.
7. You can enjoy beautiful Ballard Park
The lovely outdoor setting in the stunning and historic Ballard Park, right in the heart of downtown Ridgefield, is the perfect backdrop to enjoy music. And all concerts are held rain or shine! If the weather looks ominous, check CHIRP’s Facebook page after 3pm the day of the concert for an announcement of the indoor rain venue.
8. Be exposed to different styles of music
CHIRP concerts bring a wide variety of music genres, alternative music, and diverse styles. From New Orleans brass bands, to bluegrass, to funk – and everything in between – the concerts open us up to music we may not yet have experienced.
9. Enjoy a great summer experience with friends
Our lives are hectic and CHIRP concerts give us a reason to slow down and enjoy the company of friends. Invite some friends to enjoy a concert together!
10. A sense of community
And finally, we love the awesome sense of community one feels at a CHIRP concert. Nothing beats the heartwarming experience of family and friends together, picnics, happy kids – and great music on a summer’s eve!
Thank you to Barbara Manners, founder and producer of CHIRP Concerts, for bringing this wonderful concert series to Ridgefield for over 20 years!

CHIRP is an acronym for Concert Happenings in Ridgefield’s Parks and was begun in the summer of 2002 to foster a stronger sense of community among residents and to enhance Ridgefield’s much treasured “small town feel.” Its concerts seek to bring townspeople together in a relaxed atmosphere comfortable for people of every economic strata, age bracket, and ethnicity. Its mission is to afford them the opportunity to hear and hopefully enjoy a variety of world and alternative music only infrequently performed in this area.
