Jesse Lee Day School

Description

Jesse Lee Day School was established over 50 years ago by Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church as an outreach to the young children of the community. The goal of the school is to foster the development of happy, healthy and self-confident children.  Although particular religions are not emphasized, the board and teachers strive to communicate core values through their attitudes towards children and each other. Stories and songs help to convey such important truths as the value of friendship, caring, trust and unconditional love. Examples of some stories that may be incorporated are: Veggie Tales, “Old Turtle,” “Rainbow Fish,” the Christmas story and the lives of Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King, Jr. The purpose of these stories is to offer a full broad view of humanity. The school encourages families to share their own beliefs and traditions with the classes and each other.

The Jesse Lee Day School has a commitment to a developmental model of education that reflects young children’s growth and responds to them as individuals.

It is our goal to help children develop into confident, competent individuals with a curiosity for learning. Our nurturing environment fosters the children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical development through challenging and stimulating hands-on experiences.
