Located northwest of Ridgefield’s center, the West Mountain Historic District is comprised of 425 acres. Large country estates, majestic farmland, stonewalls, and the serene Round Pond can be found within its boundaries. Most of the large homes are situated on top of the West Mountain to take advantage of the long vistas of lakes and woodlands leading to Westchester County, NY. The most prominent of these houses is the “Oreneca”, a 1932 Georgian Revival style stone building.
