About

In 1939, Russian-born actor Michael Chekhov established the Chekhov Ridgefield School in a Connecticut barn. There, he taught classes and honed the Chekhov Method, an approach to acting that has influenced actors of several generations. The Chekhov International Theatre Festival was created to honor this dramatic innovator and to bring professional theatre to Ridgefield, Chekhov’s adopted home. This non-profit organization seeks to enhance the cultural landscape of the region and make Ridgefield a destination for compelling professional theatre.
