Explore gorgeous fall foliage 

Ridgefield’s natural beauty is at its peak during the fall. Our wooded hillsides and pristine forests come alive with the most vibrant shades of reds, oranges, and yellows. Ridgefield is truly a leaf-peepers dream and there are many breathtaking vantage points around town to enjoy all of the magnificent foliage. Our state parks and hiking trails offer some of the best vistas in which to view Ridgefield covered in gorgeous colors.

Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off

Fall community events

Our town hosts two very exciting events in the fall that gather everyone together to celebrate the season. The Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off takes place every September and features pumpkin growers from around the region competing to see who has grown the largest pumpkin. Last year’s winner weighed in at 1,825 pounds! Fall in Love with Ridgefield take place later in October and is a festival that includes haunted hayrides, window painting, and a scarecrow contest. Both events also have special activities for kids, fun games, and delicious fall goodies to taste.

Fall is also quite the busy time for our arts and culture community in Ridgefield. In October, Keeler Tavern honors #HandsOnHistory Month with a special hands-on exhibit that delights and educates viewers on a specific topic from 20th and 21st century American history. Then, the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival entertains the town with stories and thought-proving movies from innovative filmmakers. Also, there are always compelling as well as inspiring exhibits on display at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and The Ridgefield Guild of Artists.

Halloween in Ridgefield

Ridgefield loves to dress up and be spooky for Halloween. Our annual Halloween Walk on Main Street allows the whole town to celebrate in costume and for the kids to go trick-o-treating at the local businesses. Keeler Tavern gets into the Halloween spirit with their Lantern Tours through the historic rooms of their museum. Then, The Aldrich joins in on the Halloween fun with some arts & crafts and special treats for the kids.

Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra

Fall performances

The autumn season sees some great live performances in Ridgefield. Our theater companies all hold a fall production that features incredible talent singing, dancing, and acting out a captivating and moving story. The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra as well as Ridgefield singing concerts move people with their melodies and lyrics during their fall performances. And of course, The Ridgefield Playhouse always has some incredible musicians and comedians come to town to entertain in the fall.

Outdoor sporting events

The sunny and mild weather that comes with the fall makes being outdoors quite pleasant. In September, you can get out and enjoy the nice autumn weather at our town’s Where The Pavement Ends Race. This 4.25 mile races traverses the hiking trails of northern Ridgefield and those around Lake Windwing. Or, if you are in the mood for a bit more of a run, you can compete in Ridgefield’s half marathon
