Our town hosts two very exciting events in the fall that gather everyone together to celebrate the season. The Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off and Festival takes place every September and features pumpkin growers from around the region competing to see who has grown the largest pumpkin. A recent winner weighed in at over 1,900 pounds! Fall in Love with Ridgefield takes place in October and is a festival that includes haunted hayrides, window painting, and a scarecrow contest. Fall is also quite a busy time for our arts and culture community in Ridgefield. Each fall, Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center honors #HandsOnHistory Month with special hands-on exhibits that delight and educate viewers on a specific topic from American history. Don’t miss the cutting-edge art exhibits on display at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Connecticut’s only contemporary art museum. Get inspired by the visual art exhibits at The Ridgefield Guild of Artists, D. Colabella Fine Arts Gallery, and RPAC Gallery, all conveniently located in downtown Ridgefield and perfect for gallery hopping.
Halloween in Ridgefield
Ridgefield loves to dress up and get spooky for Halloween. Our annual Halloween Walk on Main Street is a beloved tradition, where the whole town comes out to celebrate in costume and the kids enjoy trick-or-treating at the local businesses. Ridgefield Fathers Club hosts its Paranormal Park Ghost Walk fundraiser – caution: very scary! Keeler Tavern gets into the Halloween spirit with its Ghosts of Ridgefield Tours, a favorite with kids and adults alike. Ridgefield is known for its superlative cultural scene and the exciting new seasons kicks off each fall. Enjoy Broadway caliber performances by ACT of Connecticut and community theater and cabaret-style performances at The Ridgefield Theater Barn. Don’t miss outstanding classical concerts The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra. And of course, The Ridgefield Playhouse hosts incredible musicians, comedians, and performers to add to the stellar lineup of autumn festivities in town! Outdoor sporting events
The crisp, mild weather that comes with a New England fall makes outdoor sporting events a favorite pastime. In September, you can get sporty at several popular races organized by Ridgefield Running Company (voted best Running Store in America!) Where The Pavement Ends traverses through beautiful and lush Ridgefield Open Space trails for 4.25 miles.
