It’s the spookiest time of year and Ridgefield has no shortage of events to get your little witches and ghouls (and pups!) in the spirit for All Hallows Eve. Read on to explore all the ways you can enjoy this magic-filled holiday all month long. Happy Halloween!

Halloween Window Painting

Saturday, October 15th from 10-2pm
Downtown Ridgefield

Calling all middle school and high school students! Come and share your artistic talents at this annual event on Main Street, sponsored by Ridgefield Parks & Recreation and the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. The program is open to all Ridgefield residents in grade 6 through 12. For visitors strolling through Main Street, enjoy all the festive window decorations!

Pumpkin Decorating Workshop

Saturday, October 15th from 1-2pm
Ridgefield Library

Join the library for a festive event for families with children in Grades K-5. Bring your own mini-pumpkin (or register online for a Library-provided pumpkin) to decorate as a favorite book or movie character. Put your pumpkin on display in the Library for the Pumpkin Decorating Contest, or bring it home!

The community is invited to Downtown Ridgefield for this beloved annual fall event! Businesses along Main Street will showcase their festive and creative window paintings and offer in-store specials, and families can enjoy a balloon artist, face painting, and a live band.

Paranormal Park

October 21st-22nd & 28th-29th from 7-9pm
Richardson Park

Be prepared to be scared out of your wits with this live action ghost walk! Stroll through Richardson Park while keeping your eyes out for the ghosts of the old insane asylum—they just might want to take you on a private tour. Ticket sales support the Ridgefield Fathers Club and must be purchased in advance.

Pumpkin Carving & Nighttime Wonders

Saturday, October 22nd from 3-6:15pm
Woodcock Nature Center

Bring the whole family to Woodcock just in time for “spooky season” to spend an evening carving pumpkins, saying hi to the animals, and learning about some misunderstood spooky creatures. Woodcock will also have a campfire, cider, a fall-themed sensory bin for the little ones, a self-guided hike (that leads to a special treat), and face painting. Wearing a costume is encouraged!

Mutt Strut for Howl-O-Ween

Saturday, October 22nd from 3-5pm
Future Ridgefield Ramble, Route 7 & Simpaug Turnpike

Strut your mutt in his howl-o-ween best! The Norwalk River Valley Trail encourages owners to dress up their dogs and bring them to the trail to enjoy a walk and some fall fun. There will be prizes for the cutest, best costume, and biggest personality!

Monday, October 24th from 4:30-5:30pm
Ridgefield Library

Students in grades K-5 and their families are invited to Halloween Hijinks with Dr. Presto and Dr. Incredulous! Things will get spooky and all together “ooky” as Dr. Presto and Dr. Incredulous once again deal with the creepy (but not too creepy) aspects of Halloween!

Ghosts of Ridgefield

Thursday, October 27th-30th from 5-7pm
Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center

Ghosts of Ridgefield is a family-friendly event with ghostly encounters and spooky storytelling for adults and kids ages 7+. Led by a KTM&HC guide, visitors will traverse the museum’s site and encounter the ghosts of some of Ridgefield’s former residents, who are eager to share their stories.

Trick-or-treat a couple days early! The Annual Halloween Walk is back with thanks to the Ridgefield Holiday Trust Fund and our shops downtown will open their doors to costumed guests from 10am-12pm.

A Jazzy Halloween

Ridgefield Theater Barn

(SOLD OUT) It’s jazz in Ridgefield at its best with the Pete Wikul Band. Pop over to the Ridgefield Theater Barn (costumes encouraged!) for a spectacularly special show. The quintessential jazz quintet will keep you moving and grooving all night long so be sure to grab your tickets early.

Stop into the historic schoolhouse on Halloween Eve to listen a few old-fashioned ghost stories and enjoy some treats! Costumes are welcome but not mandatory (and the open house is free!).

Nothing gets you in the Halloween spirit like picking out the perfect pumpkin for your jack-o-lantern. The only question is whether you can pick out just one! The pumpkin patch is open weekdays from 2-6pm and weekends from 10am-6pm.

Stroll through town and admire all the scarecrows keeping the big birds off the lamp posts! Ridgefield’s local businesses, organizations, and families have decorated their own scarecrows – so join the fun by voting for your favorite. Head to the Ridgefield Chamber’s Facebook page and “like” your favorites through Halloween—most likes wins a prize!
