Fall in Love with Ridgefield This October

This fall season, enjoy plenty of festive events happening in Ridgefield! October brings some of the most beloved happenings of the year, including the Keeler Tavern Museum’s Annual Scarecrow Contest, Jesse Lee’s Pumpkin Patch, Ridgefield’s Halloween Walk, and festive fall activities all around town. Aldrich Artists at the Table
October 1st @ 6:00pm
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
Dine in The Aldrich’s Sculpture Garden among Tim Prentice‘s kinetic sculptures with artists and fellow art lovers at Aldrich Artists at the Table, a locally sourced three-course dinner prepared by the Museum’s culinary partner Hayfields Market Catering. This seasonally inspired dinner invites friends of the Museum to come together and share a meal, engage in conversation, and celebrate local flavors and contemporary art.

Love Your Library Weekend
October 1st – October 2nd
Ridgefield Library
This year the Ridgefield Library is pleased to partner with ACT of CT, Founders Hall, Ridgefield Independent Film Festival, Ridgefield Playhouse and Ridgefield Theater Barn for this fun and unique fundraiser. The weekend will open with For the Love of Books and Ridgefield on Friday, followed by Danny Magic and drummer Craig Norton performances for families to enjoy on Saturday.

A Scott House Celebration: RHS Turns 20
October 2nd @ 1:00pm
Ridgefield Historical Society
Join the Ridgefield Historical Society under a tent to celebrate the 20th Anniversary with live music, refreshments, trivia contest, Historical Society information tables, coloring station, historical books for sale, exhibit, food and refreshment, and more.

HOPE 2021: A More Perfect Union
October 2nd @ 7:30pm
Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra
Join the RSO at the premiere of a first-of-its-kind symphony commemorating the most iconic speeches of Barack Obama’s presidency. The orchestral song cycle, “A More Perfect Union,” will feature a libretto based on six of Obama’s most impactful speeches. The performance will be held at Anne S. Richardson Auditorium at Ridgefield High School.

Ridgefield Independent Film Festival (RIFF)
October 7th – October 10th
Showings at Ridgefield Library, Keeler Tavern, and Ridgefield Theater Barn
RIFF brings innovative films and filmmakers to the culturally vibrant community of Ridgefield, Connecticut for an annual four-day festival that includes screenings, panel discussions, special events, and nightly parties. This year, Ridgefield Independent Film Festival’s ‘Love Is Love’ film block features seven films chosen for their depth, beauty and comedy.

9th Annual Scarecrow Contest
October 13th – October 31st
Hosted by Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center
Individuals, families, groups, and businesses are invited to create a scarecrow to be displayed on Main Street during Fall in Love with Ridgefield. They will place all decorated scarecrows received by Wednesday, October 13th on Main Street and you can then vote for your favorite scarecrow online through October 31st!

Fall In Love With Ridgefield 2021

Downtown Ridgefield
Join this annual event in Downtown Ridgefield for a special fall weekend with the family! While not all the details have been finalized, in past years, traditional favorites included pumpkin painting, haunted hayrides window painting, a balloon artist, and local merchant specials. Woodcock Nature Center
Bring the whole family for a one-of-a-kind hiking and beer tasting experience. At secret locations along the Woodcock trails, the Fall Frothy Forage will feature a unique craft brew from our partner Nod Hill Brewery plus soda tasting with Hosmer Mountain Soda! Delight the senses along your trek with everything from animal encounters, to live music and food for purchase from our on-site food truck.

Third Weekends

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
Visit The Aldrich for free the third weekend of every month. See our current exhibitions and explore the Sculpture Garden. Please note: The museum is closed on Saturday for a private event. Free admission on Sunday only.

Beyond Limits Exhibit
Through October 17th
RPAC Gallery
The RPAC Gallery, in collaboration with D.Colabella Fine Art, presents “Beyond Limits,” featuring the work of Guy Stanley Philoche and selected artists of The Philoche Collection. Following his successful sold-out exhibition in March of 2020, Philoche decided to use his funds to purchase artwork to show support for fellow artists who were struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

44th Annual Juried Exhibition
Through October 17th
Ridgefield Guild of Artists
More than 300 pieces of artwork were submitted to be viewed and juried by George Billis this year. In the end, he selected 70 pieces to be part of the exhibition, including wall art in a variety of media and sculpture. Though he juried the pieces online, George visited the Guild to see the works in the gallery space, and award the prizes. All artwork is for sale.

Suzanne Vega – An Evening of New York Songs and Stories
October 21st @ 8:00pm
The Ridgefield Playhouse
Grammy Award-winner Suzanne Vega revisits some of the most iconic songs in her repertoire as well as more hidden gems that fit the NYC theme in some way. This stunning performance, live on the Playhouse stage, is a celebration of her new, career spanning live album An Evening of New York Songs and Stories.

Free Outdoor Halloween Howl
October 22nd @ 5:00pm
Ridgefield Recreation Center
Bring the whole family out to this festive and fun evening, including hay rides with storytellers, a pumpkin glow stroll where you can bring your own carved pumpkins to display, food truck, and more!

Smokey Joe’s Cafe
Through October 24th
ACT of Connecticut
After a year of limitations due to the pandemic, ACT of CT is fully opening its doors to live audiences with their first show back, Smokey Joe’s Cafe. One of Broadway’s longest-running hits, Smokey Joe’s Cafe is a celebration of legendary songwriting team Leiber and Stoller, who virtually invented rock ’n’ roll. This high-energy and fast-paced show will leave you flying high!

The Ghosts of Ridgefield
October 28th – October 30th
Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center
Visitors will traverse the museum’s site and encounter the ghosts of some of Ridgefield’s former residents, who are eager to share their stories with passersby. From wealthy brides to teenage heroes, outspoken servants to colonial generals, hotel owners to immigrant peanut sellers, the ghosts haunting KTM&HC on these nights showcase the town’s rich history… with a frightful twist!

Ridgefield’s Halloween Walk 2021
October 30th @ 10:00am
Downtown Ridgefield
Kick off with the Halloween Walk in downtown Ridgefield with all the local merchants who will open their doors to Ridgefield’s joyful trick-or-treaters! Then visit again on Sunday, October 31 when the Town of Ridgefield is transformed into a costumed wonderland of candy and treats!

Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch

Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church
Come get your pumpkins at the Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch! Open to families and visitors on weekdays from 2:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 6:00pm. The Jesse Lee Pumpkin Patch is more than selling pumpkins, it is an opportunity to work with and support the church’s long-time mission partner the Navajo Nation.
