A #HandsOnHistory Exhibition

October 5 – 21, 2018

October is #HandsOnHistory Month at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center’s Historic Carriage Barn!

The history of textiles is the history of humanity; fashions of a time and place reflect the materials and technologies available. Learn about textile manufacturing history and economics through the microcosm of Ridgefield’s cottage industries. The exhibition highlights, among other things, the area farmers who planted flax (to make linen) to the fulling mills (where raw fabric was processed) to the Ridgefield housewives who sewed men’s shirts for the Ridgefield Shirt Factory.

Sunday Family Workshops feature special guest experts and demonstrations on textile manufacture and history.
