The Musket Ball: A Community Celebration of the 1777 Battle of Ridgefield

Grab your neighbor, old friends, new friends, your college kids nursery school friends’ parents, and save the date: Saturday, April 30, 2022, for the Musket Ball! This community event will be part of the town’s Celebration of the 245th Battle of Ridgefield weekend and a wonderful way to beat the pandemic isolation blues.

This year’s Musket Ball Co-Chair Harriet Hanlon says, “we thought about putting a disco ball on the invitation to give the true sense of the occasion. We all love and celebrate the history of the town, and we want the party to be modern and fun.”

The Musket Ball committee promises a night of dancing, supper, magic, signature cocktails, an art lounge, and more surprises. While organizers hope to have actors from the Battle of Ridgefield re-enactment dressed in Revolutionary garb at the event, the attire is Festive Cocktail. Co-Chair Stacey Schilbli explains, “we want it to be a night people look forward to, whether they want to wear a favorite from their closet or use the event as an excuse to cut the tags off a special outfit. If guests want to dress in period costumes, that’s great too. Whatever goes!”

Organizers of the event include First Selectman Rudy Marconi, Hanlon, Schibli, President of the Historical Society Tracy Seem, Jill Castle, and Alison Pratt.
