The community celebration, kicking off the holiday season in Ridgefield, typically brings hundreds of residents to the downtown area to watch the town sparkle and cheer for Mr. and Mrs. Claus who arrive via Fire Truck. Clearly, this is not safe due to COVID-19.
There are many folks behind the scenes working hard to make this much-anticipated event memorable as you watch the festive celebration unfold from the comfort and safety of your homes. Thanks to Billy Craig, Dick Aarons, and Sean McEvoy – we appreciate your hard work during this unprecedented time.
First Selectman Rudy Marconi tells us that the videography of the event will be excellent and may even include drone footage! Yes, Santa and Mrs. Claus will journey to Ridgefield from the North Pole and yes, a member (or two) from our community will do the honors of flipping the switch to light up downtown!
The one and only Ira Joe Fisher will once again be jolly Master of Ceremonies and musical performances include Ridgefield High School Choir and the RHS a capella group, the Nightingales. ACT of Connecticut’s Katie Diamond, Daniel C. Levine, and Bryan Perri will also perform.
Speaking at the event will be First Selectman Rudy Marconi and Mary Jones, the current Board President of Downtown Ridgefield.
We will bring you additional details as they unfold. For now, plan on settling on your couch with a hot toddy at 6:30 pm on Friday, November 27.
