LAST CHANCE "Gregg Emery: Caldera"

D.Colabella Fine Art Gallery, located at 446 Main Street, Ridgefield, is excited to present Gregg Emery: Caldera, A Mid-Career Retrospective. Drawing its name from the Caldera of Santorini, a natural landmark and symbol of cyclical life and death, this retrospective reflects on the layered, but connected, nature of Emery’s work. Delightfully paradoxical, Emery’s circular motif holds multifaceted expression alongside its uncomplicated visual anatomy. The circles are reliably represented; with the artist’s mark-making visible, his technique meditative and observational. Yet, Emery continually embraces disruption with ripping, water pouring, and artistic co-creation all holding a place in his process. Emery’s Caldera captures change, transformation, and diversity within the reliable and familiar, reflecting humanity’s own continuous unpredictability and influence. An opening VIP Preview Party will be held on September 15, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. and followed by a Public Reception from 7-9p.m. The show will be on view at D.Colabella Fine Art Gallery from September 15 to November 12, 2022. Whether it be the immersive, interwoven New York City population, his study of various religions and cultures, his barefoot youth tilling soil & wood along the border of Canada & the Akwesasne Mohawk Reserve, or a simple movie scene, artist Gregg Emery is continually inspired by the world around him. Through color and movement, Emery translates these experiences into his work, awakening something primal within his viewers.
