Hear Columbia University Professors Sarah Cole and Emlyn Hughes in a lively discussion about how the visionary author H.G. Wells cast new light on modernism and its values. On topics from warfare to science to time, Wells’s work resonates thematically and aesthetically with some of the most ambitious modernists of their time. Pre-recorded.
This program is part of the Ridgefield Library’s 2022 Scholarly Series on H.G. Wells, who was called “the father of science fiction.” Among his most famous works are “The Time Machine,” “The War Of the Worlds,” and “The Invisible Man.” The series is made possible by the generosity of the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.
