Thursday, September 29 | 6 to 7 pm

We are delighted to partner with Music on the Hill to present, Inspired by 52 Artists: Music for Voices, featuring the Chamber Chorus and Festival Chorus, led by conductor Ellen Espenschied Dickinson.

The program of Music for Voices is inspired by the current exhibition, 52 Artists: A Feminist Milestone. The performance features women composers and lyrics derived from women poets. These pieces by ten different composers showcase the breadth of expression and musical technique possible with vocal ensembles. The texts, written by eight different female poets, are expressive of the full range of emotions. They include themes of earth and sky, joy and perseverance, work and play, introspection and exuberance, and love in many forms. There are many connections of this music to the exhibited art, and the art to this music. We hope that each person will find inspiration in how the music and art intersect for them, and the ways the works depict the same ideas through different media.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary season, Music on the Hill is an independent music organization located in Wilton, Connecticut. With six performing ensembles, music education programs for children and adults, and a full schedule of concerts and events, Music on the Hill offers something for everyone. The Chamber Chorus of Music on the Hill is a professional vocal ensemble, and the Festival Chorus is a skilled amateur chorus open to all. The performing groups of Music on the Hill perform a wide range of music spanning the centuries, especially including works by living composers. For more information, visit musiconthehillct.org.

The Museum will be open late until 6 pm. We encourage concertgoers to come early and walk through the galleries.
