Event Details
Freed Formats: the book reconsidered is a traveling exhibition of 135 works of book art from 53 artists representing 17 US states and 2 countries. Freed Formats will appeal to all ages. Each person has a different feeling about what a book means to them, and book art engages anyone who has ever read, written or, for that matter, just held a book in their hands.
Freed Formats opens simultaneously at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists in Ridgefield, Ct. and The Mark Twain Library in West Redding, Ct. on March 30, 2019, and runs through April 28, 2019.
There will be classes to teach children to make an accordion book and adults to make a Japanese-stab bound book. There will be talks given by some of the participating artists and an award-winning film by an artist from North Dakota.
Guided tours are available by emailing Chris Perry to make arrangements. [email protected]
