Event Details

Celebrate Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness this Fourth of July at KTM&HC with tours, music, games, and primary source documents!

We’ll be open our operating regular hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering Museum and Walking Tours every hour on the half hour where visitors can learn how former residents of our site lived their lives, sought liberty, and pursued happiness. Ticket holders will also have exclusive access to our new exhibits in the Carriage Barn: “A Land of Opportunity? Community Building in 19th Century Ridgefield,” which showcases Joseph Hartmann’s glass plate photography; and a film about our award-winning #HandsOnHistory exhibit, “It Takes a Village.” The Museum Shop will be open from 12 to 3 p.m.

We’ll have colonial-era games for those who are young and young at heart going on the lawn all day long. From 12 to 2 p.m., join The Angry O’Haras – one of KTM&HC’s favorite local bands! – on the Visitor Center patio for progressive bluegrass music. Bring your own chairs or blankets. Also on the patio: don’t miss our annual Dramatic Reading of the Declaration of Independence at 2 p.m. – a KTM&HC tradition and a powerful reminder of the words that helped shape, and continue to shape, our national identity.
