Early Guided Bird Walk at Bennett's Pond

09oct7:30 amEarly Guided Bird Walk at Bennett's PondBennetts Pond State Park

Event Details

Join local bird enthusiast Tommy McCarthy for a guided walk at Bennett’s Pond State Park in Ridgefield. Fall means birds are migrating back to their southern homes, so species will be stopping here in Connecticut to refuel for the long journey ahead. On this walk we will talk about how birds prepare for migration, learn about some of the species traveling back to the tropics, and discuss what birds will be remaining with us or arriving for the winter. If you are new to birdwatching, you are sure to learn about at least one species you have never heard of! Bringing binoculars is recommended. This program is geared more towards adults, although kids are still welcome.

This program is in partnership with the Ridgefield Conservation Commission in efforts to update the Ridgefield 2012 Natural Resources Inventory. Bird species observed will be added to the Inventory. This program is free but pre-registration is required as spots are limited.
