Calexico

Calexico takes its name from the border town between California and Mexico, and their music straddles that same line, sitting somewhere between the gentle harmonies of Americana and percussive Latin influences. Praised by NPR for their “sprawling, cross-cultural indie rock,” Calexico has spent three decades crafting singular, cinematic songs as mysterious and magnificent as the Southwestern desert landscapes that inspired them.

Kicking off the night is Montreal’s Ada Lea (the moniker of Alexandra Levy). In addition to being a singer songwriter, Ada Lea is also a painter and visual artist, and traces of her many creative abilities run throughout her music. To her, music and visual art are different vessels for communicating similar ideas.
