The Ridgefield Library is proud and delighted to celebrate the arrival of Ridgefield’s own Poet Laureate’s new book! Please join us to hear Barb Fulton Jennes read from Blinded Birds on June 8th.
Blinded Birds traces the descent of three generations of women into depression, alcoholism, and addiction—predispositions that “tumble down generations / like a Slinky toy on the stairs.” But as the collection makes clear, there is the hope of recovery, despite the strong pull of genetics. Healing can be manifested through courage, determination, and the loving support of family.
The author has pledged to donate 15% of proceeds to the organization To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
Books will be available for purchase and signing, thanks to co-sponsor Books on the Common. Refreshments will be available.
