Art Lunch at Bernard's

Ridgefield Guild of Artists and RSO is co-sponsoring two art luncheons in the gardens at Bernard’s Restaurant with small group viewings of the artwork at Sarah’s Wine Bar on two Sundays, September 13th and September 20th, from 12-2pm at 20 West Lane in Ridgefield. Enjoy a delicious prix fixe meal (salad, entrée & dessert) in Sarah and Bernard’s lovely gardens on a beautiful Sunday in September. Small groups will be led for a safe and socially distanced viewing of the artwork before and after lunch.

The “Disquiet”/Abstract 11″ show should have opened at Sarah’s Wine Bar with a grand reception just as the pandemic came on the scene in Ridgefield last March. The event was cancelled, but the artwork is still on the walls of the restaurant and waiting to be seen!

The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra and Ridgefield Guild of Artists teamed up on a project and the fruits of that collaboration is the “Disquiet” show by the Abstract 11 group of artists who work with Rachel Volpone at the Guild. Drawing from the music of Sarah Kirkland Snider’s symphony, “Disquiet,” the artists applied this inspiration in the creation of their artwork. The women, Karen Beck, Michelle Briody, Blair Crowley, Mary Pat Devine, Rhonda Gentry, Madyn Gwynne, Jacque Lang, Ruth Van Den Niewuwenhuizen, Dayna Sierakowski, Tina Sturges, and Kathleen Wrampe attended the RSO concert last fall where the piece was performed, listened to it in class and went to work on collaborative pieces as well as individual interpretations of the music. The exhibition at Sarah’s is the finale to the project.

Since there has been no indoor dining in the state until recently with very few opportunities for diners to enjoy the show, members of the two organizations and Sarah Bouissou came up with the idea of garden lunches and art-viewing.
