Walled Garden
KTM&HC hosts the third installment of the 2022 Ridgefield Poet Laureate summer poetry series “A Garden of Verse,” featuring readings by Joan Kwon Glass and Jordan Franklin. Organized by Ridgefield Poet Laureate Barb Jennes.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and picnic dinner! Doors open 30 minutes prior to start of reading. On-site parking available. Rain location: KTM&HC Garden House.
Joan Kwon Glass is the Korean-American author of Night Swim, winner of the 2021 Diode Editions Book Contest, as well as three poetry chapbooks: How to Make Pancakes for a Dead Boy, Bloodline, and If Rust Can Grow on the Moon. She serves as Poet Laureate of Milford, CT, Editor-in-Chief of Harbor Review, and poetry co-editor of West Trestle Review. A public school educator for 20 years, Joan also serves as a mentor for Brooklyn Poets students. Her poems have appeared widely in literary journals and have been nominated for the Pushcard Prize and Best of the Net.
Jordan Franklin is a poet from Brooklyn, NY. She was the winner of the 2017 James Hearst Poetry Prize and a finalist for both the 2019 Nightjar Poetry Contest and the 2019 Furious Flower Poetry Prize. Franklin’s debut poetry collection when the signals come home was selected by Prageeta Sharma as winner of the 2020 Gatewood Prize. Her first poetry chapbook, boys in the electric age, was published by Tolsun Books in August 2021. A Brooklyn College alum, Franklin served as a Turner Fellow at Stony Brook Southampton, where she received her MFA.
