Celebrating the Holidays in Ridgefield

December is upon us which means our favorite holiday songs playing on the radio, twinkling lights decorating our neighborhoods, and plenty of gingerbread cookies to go around! The holidays call for spending time with our loved ones and slowing down to celebrate the season of giving – and there’s no better place to embrace the holidays than in Ridgefield! Here is what’s in store in our community this month.

Celebrating with the Family

Ridgefield Tree Lighting Ceremony
Friday, November 29th
The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is the staple event of the town during the holidays. Everyone comes together to watch Santa and Mrs. Claus drive through historic Main Street before we light up our trees with over 17,000 bulbs marking the official beginning of the holiday season. Families are also encouraged to stop by the The North Pole at The Lounsbury House to meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Ridgefield Holiday House Tour
Friday, December 6th
Come visit some of Ridgefield’s most festive homes this holiday season! The Holiday House Tour is a biennial event that helps support capital projects for Tiger Hollow Stadium, a premier athletic facility that supports both school and community events. Tickets are $65 and are available for purchase at www.tigerhollow.com.

20th Annual Ridgefield Holiday Stroll
Friday, December 6th – December 7th
Join us for Ridgefield’s most-cherished holiday celebration, the Annual Holiday Stroll! Complete with horse-drawn carriages, toy soldiers, strolling carolers, ice sculpting, magic shows, breakfast with Santa, elegant shopping with specialized customer service & gift-wrapping, festivities and treats at local shops. Bring the family and get ready for a beautiful and festive evening. Don’t forget to also stop by the festively decorated “Christmas at the Tavern” in the Keeler Tavern Museum!

Polar Express Family Program at Keeler Tavern
Thursday, December 19th – 20th
Bring the kids (and kids at heart) out for Keeler Tavern’s annual Polar Express Family Program. The evening’s activities include a fireside reading of everyone’s favorite holiday tale, The Polar Express, as well as holiday crafts, refreshments, and games!

15th Annual Festive Home
HAPPENING NOW through December 22nd
Festive Home is the Guild’s biggest fundraiser of the year and it’s going into its 15th year! This year, the holiday marketplace is themed “Deck the Halls!” where visitors can find the galleries showcasing traditional and contemporary holiday items throughout this holiday emporium including unique hand-made jewelry, apparel, original artwork, holiday decor items, and more! Don’t miss out on a chance to purchase a one-of-a-kind gift for someone special while supporting the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.

Ladies Night Out – Holiday Boutique
Thursday, December 5th
Ladies, you will not want to miss The Lounsbury House’s “Ladies Night Out” this year! Come out for an evening of wine, food, fabulous shopping and fun activities, including: door prizes, free massages from Elements Massage and much more! It’s the perfect night to take a break from the hustle and bustle of your neverending holiday to do list, and enjoy a night with your best friends! Ticket cost: $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Holiday Art Show: Gift of Art
Friday, December 6th
Join 10 local artists who have been painting together for years as they display and sell paintings and handmade gifts in the Carriage Barn! The Opening Reception with refreshments will be held on Friday, December 6th at 4:00pm, and visitors can join us for the Art Show on December 7th-14th at the Cass Gilbert Carriage Barn!

Holiday Boutique
Friday, December 10th – 29th
The Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center is pleased to open their doors to a holiday gift shop, including handcrafted items by local artisans – some made exclusively for KTM&HC! The Holiday Boutique at Keeler Tavern will be open through December 29th, make sure to stop by!

The Marvelous Wonderettes
Friday, December 6th – December 18th
What’s the holiday season without some comedy to lift everyone’s spirits? Join us for weekend showings of this musical comedy with pop hits from the 50s and 60s, directed by Foster Evans Reese. You can catch the show at Ridgefield Theater Barn! Tickets are $38 for adults and $33 for seniors, students, and veterans.

A Darlene Love Christmas-Love For The Holidays
Saturday, December 7th
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love returns to Ridgefield with her holiday show, performing all her hits including the #1 holiday classic “Christmas Baby Please Come Home,” a song that she performed annually with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Symphony Orchestra on The Late Show With David Letterman! RSO Tribute – Dave Brubeck Centennial
Saturday, December 7th
The Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to present two extravagant concerts of music sure to engage, entertain and inspire all music lovers! The orchestra will perform under the direction of Maestro Yuga Cohler, along with renowned soloists and special guest artists. This concert will be performed in the Anne S. Richardson Auditorium at Ridgefield High School, and tickets can be purchased here!

Rockapella Holiday
Wednesday, December 11th
Rockapella Holiday has become one of the world’s most sophisticated, lasting, and imitated vocal groups around! Join us to enjoy this live show of a cappella versions of everything from the holiday standards you know and love like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” to a funky rendition of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!” – we bet you can’t help but sing along! The Nutcracker
Friday, December 13th – Sunday, December 15th
Add a touch of magic to your holiday season! Enjoy a beautiful holiday tradition in a magical land where sugar plums dance and flowers waltz to tell the classic tale of a young girl and her Nutcracker prince. Tchaikovsky’s soaring score, graceful ballerinas, wooden soldiers who come to life and a bigger-than-life Christmas tree will make the holidays bright for young and old. Get your tickets here!

Ridgefield Chorale Holiday Pops Concert
Sunday, December 15th
Join us for Ridgefield Chorale’s Annual Holiday Pops Concert, featuring a special performance by singers from the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield! Christmas with the Celts
