Battle of Ridgefield 245th Anniversary Weekend

Join the Town of Ridgefield and the Ridgefield Historical Society at this town-wide event in honor of the 245th Anniversary of the Battle of Ridgefield. Friday, April 29th

245th Anniversary Weekend Kickoff @ 6:00pm
First Selectman Rudy Marconi and the Historical Society launch the anniversary weekend with a special event featuring a performance by the Ridgefield High School Symphonic Orchestra, followed by a panel presentation unveiling the most recent Battle of Ridgefield findings at East Ridge Middle School Auditorium.

Saturday, April 30th

Battle of Ridgefield Walking Tours @ 9:00am – 4:00pm
Revolutionary War characters will be stationed at several stops along Main Street. Each stop will feature a short, entertaining, and informative script. Tours begin on Main Street just North of Casagmo and end at the Keeler Tavern Museum.

Revolutionary War Reenactment Camps @ 9:00am – 10:30am and 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Revolutionary War reenactors arrive and set up camp for the weekend, with camp tours and demonstrations Saturday and Sunday at Ballard Park and Jesse Lee Methodist Church. Meet Colonial and Continental Reenactors and enjoy tours, demonstrations, and kids’ drills.

Battle of Ridgefield Reenactment @ 11:00am – 1:00pm
Revolutionary War Reenactors re-stage the historic Battle of Ridgefield on the streets of the town. Army formations at Jesse Lee and Ballard Park campgrounds. Battle begins at Casagmo with focal points along Main St, ending at Jesse Lee.

Battlefield Archaeology Day: Digging for History @ 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Field historians and researchers demonstrate the archeological work they do. See soil screening and ground penetrating radar in action and participate in metal detecting on the Scott House property. Great for all ages!

Keeler Tavern: Tavern Tours @ 11:00am – 4:00pm
Specialty Battle of Ridgefield-themed tours exploring the complex history of what it means to live through war at home. Visitors can also visit the historic carriage barn for exhibits and activities. Great for families!

The Musket Ball: A Community Celebration @ 7:00pm – 11:00pm
Join friends and neighbors, mingle with re-enactors, and party like it’s 1777 at Lounsbury House. Donations provided by Nod Hill Brewery and Tuck Gin. Enjoy a night of cocktails, dinner, dancing, magic, art lounge, and more! Get tickets

Sunday, May 1st

Battle of Ridgefield Funeral Procession and Ceremonial Salute @ 11:00am – 1:00pm
The 5th CT Regiment and The Brigade of the American Revolution will conduct a funeral procession and ceremony for the soldiers discovered in Ridgefield in 2019 at Ballard Park .

Keeler Tavern: Tavern Tours @ 11:00am – 4:00pm
Specialty Battle of Ridgefield-themed tours exploring the complex history of what it means to live through war at home. Visitors can also visit the historic carriage barn for exhibits and activities. Great for families!
